We provide a safe, loving environment where every animal receives the compassion, nourishment, and activity they need to thrive. Our ultimate goal is to place each animal in a caring, permanent home where they can live a full and happy life.

Marlena Ray
Shelter Director
Marlena leads the Barnwell County Animal Shelter with compassion and dedication. She oversees daily operations, coordinates adoptions, and works closely with staff and volunteers to ensure every animal receives the care they deserve. Her commitment helps create a safe and welcoming environment for both pets and people.

Beth Zorn
BCAS Board Member, Foster/Rescue Coordinator
Beth helps guide shelter initiatives as a board member and connects animals with loving homes through her work as foster and rescue coordinator. Her dedication ensures pets find the best path to safety and care.

Dana Burbage
Kennel Assistant
Dana helps provide daily care for the dogs, ensuring clean kennels, fresh water, and a safe, welcoming environment.

Lena Taylor
Kennel Assistant
Lena assists with animal care and cleaning, helping maintain a positive environment for both pets and visitors.

Holly Ellis
Intake Coordinator/Medical Assistant
Holly is on the front lines of animal care at BCAS. She manages intake with a gentle approach—recording histories, coordinating exams, and ensuring each pet gets a safe start. As medical assistant, she supports vaccinations, treatments, and daily wellness checks so every animal receives care.

Erica Ellis
Medical Manager
Erica guides the shelter’s medical program, coordinating exams, treatments, and surgeries while supporting the vet team day to day. Her steady leadership helps every animal get the care they need, right when they need it.

Cara Taylor
Kennel Assistant
Cara supports the team by feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the animals, making sure each pet is comfortable and healthy.

Aaliyah Staley
Kennel Assistant
Aaliyah helps with daily routines, including feeding and kennel upkeep, and gives the animals plenty of attention and care.
